Anna Thorvaldsdottir Spectra UK premiere
Jeffrey Mumford eight aspects of appreciation II UK premiere
Schnittke String Trio
‘My music,’ says the brilliant Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir, ‘is an ecosystem of materials that are carried from one performer to the next… growing and transforming throughout.’ The ongoing pandemic might have pulled us apart, but such a spirit of communion and collaboration will help to reunite us – and you’ll hear it beautifully in Spectra, a UK premiere that opens our mini-series of three concerts for three musicians within a socially distanced Hallé St Peter’s. Following Jeffrey Mumford’s set of fizzing variations, we’ll be closing with a contemporary classic: Alfred Schnittke’s intense, poetic and utterly gripping String Trio.
To ensure audience members’ safety and observe social-distancing regulations, we’ll be selling only a very limited number of tickets for these two concerts – and to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy this special series, we’ll be livestreaming the 7pm performance on this website for free.
Benedict Holland violin
Heather Wallington viola
Jennifer Langridge cello
A maximum of 30 tickets are available for this concert so we can meet government guidelines on social distancing, with audience members seated at least 2m apart. Tickets are only available in advance and will not be sold on the door. For more on how we’re addressing audience safety in the light of COVID-19, see the ‘Plan Your Visit’ page.
Live online: To allow as many people as possible to enjoy the 3×3 series, we’ll be livestreaming the 7pm concert at this website and other online platforms – entirely for free. Please consider supporting our work by making a donation to Psappha.
The concert will last approximately 70 minutes.
