Overview
UPDATE: Our performance on 10th December will go ahead as a livestream without an audience – Please join us! Click Here
The Axe Manual is every bit as sharp and striking as its title suggests – and a typically uncompromising work from the catalogue of Harrison Birtwistle, one of our country’s greatest living composers. It’s the centrepiece of the third event in this mini-series of concerts featuring scaled-back, socially-distanced Psappha trios. To close, we’re revisiting a Psappha classic: Gordon McPherson’s slow-burning work rooted in obsession and fear. And to begin, a newer piece by one of Britain’s most exciting young composers: a trio of short duets by Kate Whitley, founder of London’s fabulous Multi-Story Orchestra. If you can’t join us on the day, you can watch the 7pm performance live via YouTube Live.
Benedict Holland violin
Benjamin Powell piano
Tim Williams percussion
Live online: To allow as many people as possible to enjoy the 3×3 series, we’ll be livestreaming the 7pm concert through YouTube Live – entirely for free.
The concert will last approximately 70 minutes.
