Soojung Park - Looking over the Land (world premiere)

I have got inspiration for Looking over the Land from the Chapter 2, Joshua of the Bible. This chapter shows that two spies for the Israel sneaked into the land of the enemy and they knock the door of one of houses for asking their help in the dark night. I imagine that two spies had to be feeling nervous and repeatedly stop and go to the house. To represent their stepping I imagined, contrast of dynamics and a pattern of short unison were used as a motive. Soojung Park studied composition at Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea. She subsequently completed her MA in composition with Nicola LeFanu at the University of York, and has been doing PhD with Dr. Kevin Malone at the University of Manchester. She had written contemporary music for various ensembles with inspiration from her own experience and story books. Last February and March, she participated in workshops by the Camerata and Quator Danel.
