Contemplations
Contemplations is a very free, flowing piece, with an
emphasis on long, expressive melodic lines. The title refers
primarily to the pensive mood that prevails throughout the piece.
It was conceived as a piece of absolute music - that is, it isn't
explicitly 'about' anything. However, the long melodies seem to
resemble individual thoughts (or contemplations), with the
occasional contrasting interruption.
