Gareth Williams Ursula Major Psappha (Jennifer Langridge - cello & Paul Janes - piano) Recorded Live at St. Ann's Church in Manchester on 28th November 2007 About the composer Originally from County Amagh, Gareth moved to Glasgow after studying music at Queen's University, Belfast. He completed his Masters in Composition in 2000 at the RSAMD,and is currently completing his PhD in Composition studying with Gordon McPherson. Over the last few years Gareth has been active as a composer producing work for groups such as the Hebrides Ensemble, the Paragon Ensemble, the Ceoil Quartet, Symposia, Black Hair and London Sinfonietta. His first opera Love i the Blue Corner, was premiered at the Plug Festival in May 2006 and he is currently working with writer an librettist Bernard McLaverty on a second work commission by Scottish Opera. |
